About Augusta Sports Council

The Augusta Sports Council (ASC) is a 501(c)(3) organization that enriches the quality of life and economic well-being for the Augusta metropolitan area by supporting and attracting sporting activities. The ASC was established in 1991 by a group of sports-minded volunteers to recruit sporting events to the community. Since those early years, more than 800 events have been created, recruited, or supported by the Augusta Sports Council. A couple of stand-out opportunities include the 1996 Olympic Box-Offs, the 1999 and 2002 Georgia Games Championships, NIKE Peach Jam Basketball, ESPN Bassmaster Tournament and IRONMAN® 70.3® Augusta. In 2000, the Augusta Sports Council established the Ray Guy Award to recognize the top collegiate punter.
